“The Aviation Colour Perception Standard is a regulatory instrument that has no scientific basis and contributes nothing to the safety of the travelling public.”
Dr Arthur Pape
The Colour Vision Defective Pilots Association Pty Ltd is a creation of its founder, Dr Arthur Pape.
It is a not-for-profit organisation and was founded in the State of Victoria, Australia in March 2012.
Arthur is the organisation’s Director/Secretary. He is an Australian Medical Practitioner active in General Practice and is a Designated Medical Examiner for the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). He is also a pilot and holds an Australian CPL and multi-engine command instrument rating and was formerly a Vice-President of the Australian Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Arthur has been a lifelong campaigner for the rights of Colour Vision Defective (CVD) pilots to fly without any restrictions imposed as a consequence of their colour vision status.
CVDPA’s intended source of income is to be derived from donations, subscriptions, grants and sponsorship.
This income will be used to fund the research, legal activism, lobbying, educating and coordinating that will be needed in order to achieve its mission defined in its mission statement.
It is contemplated that with growth of awareness of the existence and the mission of the CVDPA there will be created a dedicated staff of paid and volunteer workers, as well as a panel of advisors.
It is intended that the CVDPA will become a major focal point and resource centre for a worldwide campaign to promote the legitimate and just aspirations of CVD pilots of today and of tomorrow.
